Want to know my current workout secret? It’s easy, just follow these 3 simple steps

Step 1 – Get of f the couch

Step 2 – Walk to your shed

A good day’s hard labour can melt the fat straight off you.

I am writing this post, late in the evening and my body is aching (in a good way). Why? well you see, currently at our house we are experiencing some major renovations to more modernize our 70’s style house and apart from the minor stress of the planning process, I am quite enjoying the demolition side of things. Now it takes a lot for me to focus and gather the inner strength to either hop on the cross trainer or maybe go for a run, however, tell me that by carting ang shoveling some rubble yourself is going to save you some cash, I’m there!

You see, not only is there the benefit of saving a bit of money by doing it yourself, there’s is the added bonus of getting fit at the same time. Now I am not particularly handy with the tools, but what I have discovered in the last couple of weeks is that I am good at destroying stuff. I am loving demolishing and clearing. I guess this is really just another extension of decluttering. We always talk about decluttering your desk ,wardrobe, cd collection etc but never our front and backyard or our structural living spaces

It is amazing when you start decluttering by taking out a wall here, or moving an unsightly shed to a different corner there, any small or big change can create a pleasant space that you never thought possible.

So, get out there yourself and start your free workout now!

Enjoy

Greg

ps. An added benefit to this if you’ve got kids is that children love tearing down and digging stuff too! I had a couple of little hands helping me today, but most importantly we were spending time together.

The one thing I like about writing this blog is putting it out there for all to read and then gaining the extra incentive to be true to my word. So I have begun 2010 with announcement of my Big 4 and one of the cornerstones to achieving the Big 4 is to weigh 72kgs (158lbs)

Why?

This figure provides me with a body mass index rating of 24 which is considered healthy.

At the moment I currently fluctuate between overweight and obese and the one and only reason for this is overeating.

Why do we overeat?

Sugar, fat and salt make us want to eat more - Most palatable foods are described by food scientists by food that has the capacity to stimulate us to eat more, and its most of these foods that generally contain sugar, fat, salt or all three.

We eat food that isn’t real – Over the last couple of decades our food is becoming overly processed, this means that as the nutrients are getting sucked out, and the fat, salt and sugar content increases

Fast Food companies want us to – Like every industry, the focus is profit, which requires selling more product. On every corner, fast food joints have deals that require you to eat more for less money, combine this with the stimulation from the processed food, the norm considered these days is to eat huge meals throughout the day.

How can I stop?

Every time I see a glimmer of hope in my eating pattern is becuause I have controlled it to eating 1500 calories per day which is the correct calorie intake for someone of my age, exercise level and daily activity to enable me to lose about a pound a week and have now come to realisation that everyday I must plan my next meal or snack until I have successfully altered my eating habits

So from now on until I reach my goal weight (or however long after) I am sticking like glue to 1500 calories per day.

It will be a controlled eating plan which will include plenty of whole foods and water plus regular exercise from now on.

Enjoy

Greg

Did you know, that the “wearing of a Mo throughout history has been a reflection of such factors as climate, custom, religious belief and personal taste” – www.movember.com

Yes, its that time of year again, where men across the globe create their own stylin’ hairy caterpillar on the upper lip to raise awareness for men’s health issues. If you are unaware of Movember, it is an annual month long celebration of the moustache. It’s also a chance for all you Magnum P.I fans out there to proudly show off your dedication to the big fella and at the same time raise money for a good cause.

In Australia, the Movember men’s health partners are The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, and Beyond Blue, while in the U.S it supports the Lance Armstrong Foundation. To date, over $20 million dollars have been raised around the world.

Its not to late to get in and support a “Mo Bro” , and you know, now that your aware of what’s going on, that guy at work who you have just noticed is starting to look a bit like Borat, there could be a real good reason behind it, or at least I hope there is!

BTW,

For a laugh, check out my rather lame attempt at a “Trucker Style” mo at MoSpace, and while your there support your brother, father, grandad and mate by making a small donation, every bit counts.
